An identity and website for Milan based Ganko Office for Architecture. The practice describes its approach as ‘unapologetically modern’, and admits to favouring a certain classicism in the strand of the tradition it most identifies with. Research is central to Ganko’s activity, which, in addition to building design, encompasses research, publication and education. The solution we provided affords an overview of the office’s built projects. Visually, the initial encounter is elegant and spare. Richer layers of content are subsequently revealed through visitors' active exploration. Whilst priority in the order of appearance is given to building design, these projects sit in a hierarchically equivalent position to the presentation of the office’s research activities. In this, our design responds directly to Ganko’s approach, which, as they say, is ‘as simple and precise in its presence as it is multiple and open in its experience’.
